Well there are scores of tutorials and helpful people here, so help shouldn't be too hard to come by -- I hope you find the help you need

It can be difficult to attract critiques at first, but the more you submit the more that come, and if you leave comments on others deviations they tend to come more quickly. Start browsing dA in the 'resources' > 'tutorials' section and you may dig something up that would be helpful. I'm somewhat new to it myself, though I've been taking photos for ages as boredom relief.
